OVERVIEW
This trip takes you around to experience authentic Rwanda and its beauty. From the wildlife safaris of Akagera National Park, the sunset boat cruise, the city tours in Kigali with the Genocide Memorial Center, cultural tours in Volcanoes National Park, and Lake Kivu adventures with full relaxation. It is a private tour so you will be using a private safari jeep.
DAY BY DAY
Day 1: Arrival at the Kigali International Airport
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our dedicated team from Muganzi Safaris will be at the Kigali International Airport for the meet and greet assistance, and clear with customs. You will transfer to the Kigali hotel. You will enjoy hotel amenities, have dinner, and rest.

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park – Sunset Boat Cruise
After your breakfast, you will start your journey to the Eastern part of Rwanda. Akagera National Park is Home to the Big 5- game safaris. On the way, you’ll enjoy landscapes and the hills of Rwanda, en route game drives, and views. As you drive to the lodge, you can expect to see some animals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, and buffaloes. You’ll check-in, order your lunch at the lodge, and relax a bit. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on the sunset boat cruise where you’ll be rewarded with several hippos and bird species on Lake Ihema. You’ll retire and drive back to the lodge to refresh and relax using hotel amenities. Later, you’ll have dinner and rest.

Day 3: Akagera National Park Wildlife Safaris and Transfer Back to Kigali
Akagera is also known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa. After your breakfast, you’ll take your packed lunch boxes (order them). You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Akagera National Park is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many more. You’ll have a stopover for a packed lunch at the picnic area. Then, you’ll continue with a drive straight back to Kigali city. You will arrive at the hotel, relax with dinner and rest.

Day 4: Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Visit Ellen campus
After your breakfast, you’ll embark on the Kigali city tour. You’ll go for a visit to the Genocide Memorial Center, then drive to Musanze. You’ll visit the multi-acre, eco-friendly facility adjacent to the Volcanoes National Park includes three main buildings — the Sandy and Harold Price Research Center, the Rob and Melani Walton Education Center, and the Cindy Broder Conservation Gallery—as well as housing for visiting students and researchers. The Ellen Campus is designed to serve as a gateway to conservation for the many stakeholders with whom we work as well as visitors from around the world, helping to create the next generation of conservationists. You’ll choose a nice restaurant for your lunch in Musanze. Then, you will drive to the lodge with check-in and relaxation. You’ll enjoy property amenities and the evening at leisure.

Day 5: Cultural Experiences + Transfer to Lake Kivu with a Night Fishing Experience

Day 6: Lake Kivu Boat Cruise and Transfer to Kigali + Departure
You’ll wake up for breakfast, and enjoy it with the lake views. Then, you’ll embark on the morning boat cruise on Lake Kivu to discover its different beautiful islands while on the lake and have a fantastic view of the country. During the boat cruise, you will see a variety of bird species including pelicans, crowned cranes, and malachite kingfishers. Depending on how busy the day is, this boat cruise lasts an average of 2 hours. Then, you will be transferred back to Kigali. You’ll have last-minute souvenir shopping in Kigali city craft shops depending on your air transfer drive to Kigali International Airport for your transfer back home.
