Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Meet your safari guide at Entebbe International Airport and drive through Kampala to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Check in at your lodge and, if time allows, enjoy rhino tracking before dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Rhino Tracking & Travel to Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, track rhinos and then drive north to Kidepo Valley National Park. Enjoy a sunset game drive to spot lions, buffaloes, and elephants before resting at your lodge.

Day 3: Game Drive & Community Visit

 

Enjoy a morning game drive in Narus Valley followed by an afternoon cultural visit to a Karamojong Manyatta to experience local traditions, songs, and dances.

Day 4: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

Depart Kidepo for Murchison Falls. En route, have lunch in Gulu and continue to the park. Visit the top of the falls and watch the Nile squeeze through the gorge before sunset.

Day 5: Game Drive & Nile Boat Cruise

Morning game drive on the savannah to spot elephants, lions, leopards, and giraffes. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic boat cruise to the base of the falls for hippos, crocodiles, and birds.

Day 6: Delta Boat Cruise & Travel to Hoima

Enjoy a boat ride to the Nile Delta with a chance to spot the rare shoebill stork. After lunch, drive to Hoima for an overnight stop.

Day 7: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park

Travel through scenic tea plantations to Kibale Forest, home to 13 primate species. Arrive and relax at your lodge surrounded by rainforest sounds.

Day 8: Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Swamp Walk

Go chimpanzee tracking in Kibale’s lush forest. In the afternoon, explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching and a community experience.

Day 9: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoy views of the Rwenzori Mountains, visit the Katwe Salt Lake, and end the day with a sunset game drive.

Day 10: Game Drive & Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise

Morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains to spot lions, elephants, and buffaloes. Later, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for hippos and water birds.

Day 11: Chimp Tracking in Kyambura Gorge

Track chimpanzees in the Kyambura Gorge, then drive to the Ishasha sector, known for tree-climbing lions. Enjoy an evening game drive

Day 12: Game Drive & Transfer to Bwindi

Morning game drive before driving to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Dinner and overnight near the park.

Day 13: Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, go gorilla trekking in Bwindi. Spend one magical hour observing gorillas, then transfer to the scenic Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation.

Day 14: Explore Lake Bunyonyi

Take a boat ride to explore the lake’s islands, learn about their history, and enjoy birdwatching or a cultural village walk.

Day 15: Travel to Lake Mburo National Park

Drive through rolling hills to Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy an afternoon boat cruise and a sunset game drive for zebras, impalas, and giraffes.

Day 16: Drive to Kampala via the Equator

Morning game drive, then drive to Kampala. Stop at the Equator for photos, coffee, and fun water-balance experiments. Overnight in Kampala.

Day 17: Jinja & Source of the Nile Adventure

Travel to Jinja to explore the Source of the Nile. Optional activities include white-water rafting, quad biking, horse riding, or bungee jumping.

Day 18: Departure

Transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your flight home. End of the 18 Days Best of Uganda Safari.
