From tracking wild mountain gorillas in their natural habitat to soaring over the plains of the iconic Masai Mara in a hot air balloon, and swimming with whale sharks in Zanzibar, we’re certain that this African adventure will be the most magical and memorable holiday you will ever take. Starting in Uganda, you’ll track endangered mountain gorillas, before spending three days in Kenya’s Masai Mara. This phenomenal holiday ends with four days on the exotic spice island in Zanzibar.
Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe and Overnight
You’ll arrive in Entebbe today from your international flights and after you’ve cleared customs and immigration, you are met by your driver at international arrivals. They will be holding a welcome sign with your names on it. You are then driven to your guesthouse in Entebbe where you’ll stay for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Fly to Kihihi & Transfer to your Bwindi Lodge
This morning you are driven back to the airport to catch the first flight on Aerolink down to Kihihi. Enjoy this incredible flight taking you low over Uganda and offering stunning views of the amazing landscapes beneath you. You will arrive in Kihihi before midday and you will be met by your driver who will drive you though to Mahogany Springs Lodge, which is a journey of around 2 hours. Your stay here is for the next 2 nights is on a full board basis. This afternoon is free to spend at leisure, relax or perhaps take part in optional activities (at additional cost) including forest walks, bird watching and village walks.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking
Prepare for a life-changing encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas in the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Guided by expert trackers, you’ll journey through the dense canopy to find your assigned habituated group. While the trek can last between two and seven hours, the reward is a profound and emotional hour spent just meters away from these gentle giants. Afterward, return to the refined comfort of your lodge to relax and reflect on this extraordinary, once in a lifetime wildlife experience in the heart of the Pearl of Africa.
Days 4-6: On safari in the Masai Mara National Reserve
Fly from Kihihi to the Masai Mara to begin a spectacular three-night safari in Kenya’s most iconic reserve. Each day, enjoy morning and afternoon game drives across the vast plains, where sightings of the Big Five, cheetahs, and vast herds are legendary. You may also opt for a nocturnal game drive, a guided bush walk, or an authentic visit to a Maasai village. This immersive experience captures the essence of East African wildlife, providing a sophisticated and thrilling encounter with one of the world’s premier ecosystems.
Day 7: Fly to Zanzibar & Transfer to the Beach
Today you’ll enjoy an early morning game drive before being driven to the airstrip in time for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Nairobi. Here you’ll board a connecting flight to the exotic island of Zanzibar. You will be met on arrival in Zanzibar and driven to your accommodation where you will stay for the next four nights. We offer a range of accommodation options on the island and we will ensure that we match you with the most suitable accommodation for your requirements and sense of style – whether that is a rustic beach lodge or a luxurious 5-star resort.
Day 8-10: Zanzibar Beaches
Spend three days at leisure on the pristine shores of Zanzibar, the ideal destination for post-safari relaxation. Unwind on white-sand beaches or explore the island’s vibrant culture with a visit to historic Stone Town and local spice plantations. For those seeking adventure, the turquoise waters offer world-class diving, snorkeling, and sea kayaking, with the chance to spot dolphins and green turtles. Whether you are seeking quiet reflection by the sea or an immersive cultural excursion, Zanzibar provides a sophisticated and serene conclusion to your East African journey.
Day 11: International Outbound Flight
Sadly your ‘Gorillas, Masai Mara and Zanzibar’ adventure has come to an end. After a final breakfast at your hotel, you’ll check out of your accommodation and you’ll be driven back to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) for your flight home.
