Detailed 6-Day Itinerary

 

 

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe or Kampala

Your primate safari begins upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport. A Muganzi Safaris guide will welcome you and facilitate your transfer to your hotel. Depending on your flight time, you can relax or take an optional tour of Kampala. In the evening, receive a comprehensive briefing about the incredible journey ahead.

Day 2: Scenic Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, we embark on a scenic drive south-west to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The journey itself is a highlight, winding through rolling hills and vibrant local communities. Upon arrival, check into your lodge located on the forest edge, where the cool, misty air heightens the anticipation for tomorrow’s trek.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

This is the day of your lifetime encounter! After an early breakfast and a short drive to the park headquarters, you will be briefed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. The trek itself is a thrilling adventure through dense, ancient forest. Once a gorilla family is located, you will spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, play, and interact. After the trek, receive your official certificate and return to the lodge to relive the experience.

Day 4: Journey to Kibale National Park

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we depart for Kibale Forest National Park. The drive north offers stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains (the “Mountains of the Moon”) and Uganda’s countryside. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, where you can relax and listen to the sounds of the forest, home to 13 primate species.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale Forest

Today, you will meet our closest living relatives. After a briefing at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, your guided chimpanzee trek begins. Kibale’s dense forest is alive with the sounds of birds and monkeys, building the excitement until you find a community of habituated chimpanzees. Watch them swing through the canopy and socialize on the forest floor. The afternoon is free for optional activities, such as a swamp walk or a community visit.

Day 6: Departure

After a final breakfast amidst the sounds of the forest, we begin our journey back to Entebbe International Airport (or your hotel in Kampala) for your departure flight, filled with incredible memories of Uganda’s majestic primates.
