Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Kitgum

 

Upon arrival at Entebbe or Kampala, meet your experienced guide and start your scenic journey to Kitgum. Passing through the savannah grasslands of Nakasongola, you will enjoy lunch in Luwero town. Eventually, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer from Kitgum to Kidepo Valley National Park

 

After breakfast, embark on a 2–4 hour drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. Along the way, pass through the charming Kakwanga villages with traditional thatched houses. Upon arrival, check into your lodge, enjoy lunch, and spend the afternoon relaxing before dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Early Morning Game Drive & Kanangorok Hot Springs

 

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in Narus Valley, where you may encounter buffaloes, lions, elephants, lesser kudus, and giraffes. After returning to the lodge for lunch, take another adventure to the Kanangorok Hot Springs near the Uganda-Sudan border, which is famous for ostriches. Conclude your day with dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Nature Walks & Bird Watching

 

Today, embark on nature walks through Narus and Nakamukweny valleys. With packed lunch, enjoy birding and spot endemic species such as the pygmy falcon, Karamoja apalis, kori bustard, white-bellied bustard, and purple heron. As the sun sets, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Cultural Encounters

 

On this day, experience the rich culture of the Karamojong and Ik communities. Visit their traditional houses, enjoy their songs, dances, and stories, and witness their fascinating way of life. After lunch at the lodge, spend the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the journey back to Kampala.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Kampala

 

After breakfast, set off for a 10–12 hour scenic drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. Enjoy stops for refreshments and lunch along the way. Arrive in the evening, concluding your unforgettable Kidepo Valley adventure.
