Detailed Itinerary

 

 

Day 1: Fly to Kidepo National Park

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your professional safari guide and board a domestic flight to Kidepo airstrip. Upon arrival, transfer to your lodge for lunch and relax before your first evening game drive, spotting wildlife along the scenic savannah. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning and Evening Game Drives

Start early with a morning game drive, searching for predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and bushbucks.

After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive to the Narus River, the park’s permanent water source. Photograph large concentrations of wildlife drinking, including waterbucks, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, and many bird species like secretary birds and black-breasted barbets. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Hiking Mount Morungole

After breakfast, transfer to the trailhead of Mount Morungole, the ancestral home of the IK people. This full-day hike (around 8 hours) offers panoramic views of Kidepo Valley, the surrounding rift valley, and the IK homesteads.

Meet the IK community along the trail and learn about their traditional lifestyle, culture, and customs, including bride price traditions, local cuisine, and homemade beer. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive & Cultural Tour

Begin your day with a morning game drive to spot any wildlife you may have missed. Visit Kanangorok Hot Springs, a unique natural feature with boiling water emerging from rocky outcrops. Learn about the spiritual significance of the springs for local communities.

In the afternoon, enjoy a cultural tour with the Karamojong people. Explore traditional Manyatta homesteads, observe their musical instruments, ceremonial spears, and tribal dances, and hear stories of their warrior heritage. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer Back to Entebbe
