5 Days Gorilla & Lion Tracking Safari Itinerary

 

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park


Your safari driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel or residence in Kampala or Entebbe. Begin your journey west with a stop at the Uganda Equator Line for photography and brief exploration before proceeding through Mbarara for lunch. Continue to Bwindi, check into your lodge, enjoy dinner, and rest overnight.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest


After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules. Groups of up to 8 trekkers are assigned a specific gorilla family, and the trek can take between 2–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location. Once found, you’ll spend up to one hour observing and photographing these gentle giants.
Return to your lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Ishasha Sector


After breakfast, drive through the scenic Ishasha sector, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a game drive to spot these unique predators and other wildlife before heading to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Game Drive & Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel


Enjoy an early morning game drive along the Kasenyi plains to see elephants, buffaloes, kobs, topis, and warthogs. Return to your lodge for lunch, then set out for an afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, famous for hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife.

Day 5: Return to Kampala or Entebbe
