Overview
This 8-day Uganda safari takes you through the country’s most exciting wildlife destinations, including Lake Mburo, Mgahinga Gorilla, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Parks. During the tour, enjoy gorilla trekking, chimpanzee trekking, and golden monkey trekking, with opportunities for photography and close encounters with habituated primates in their natural habitats. In addition, you will witness the Big Five mammals—elephants, buffaloes, lions, hippos, zebras, and giraffes—through game drives and boat cruises, making this safari a complete wildlife and cultural experience.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, our experienced driver-guide will pick you up for a 5–6 hour journey to Lake Mburo National Park. En route, stop at the Equator for refreshments and photography. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch followed by an evening boat cruise to spot crocodiles, hippos, and water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Mgahinga National Park
Begin your day with a morning game drive in Lake Mburo to see zebras, giraffes, and lions. Afterward, enjoy en-route lunch and embark on a 4–5 hour drive to Mgahinga National Park in Kisoro District. Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Trekking
After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing and registration. Trek through lush forests in search of mountain gorillas, spending up to one hour with them for photography and observation. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience
Start the day with a golden monkey trek in the Virunga Mountains. Watch these endemic monkeys feed on bamboo for about 3 hours. After lunch, explore Batwa culture, learning how the forest-dwelling Batwa people lived through storytelling, songs, and traditional dances. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive via Kabale–Kisoro Road through the Kigezi Highlands to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Rushaga sector). Check into your lodge for dinner and overnight, preparing for gorilla trekking the following day.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking
After breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and registration. Trek through Bwindi’s forests to track a gorilla family, spending up to one hour observing and photographing these majestic primates. Return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.
Day 7: Birding & Cultural Encounters
Begin with bird watching in the Rushaga region, home to over 350 bird species, including 23 endemic species such as the Blue-headed Sunbird and Short-tailed Warbler. After lunch, visit the Batwa and Bakiga communities for storytelling, singing, and dancing, learning about their history and traditions. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Departure – Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, set off for the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe, stopping at the Equator for photography and lunch. Arrive in time for your flight or overnight stay, marking the end of your 8-day Uganda primate safari.
