Planning a Uganda safari, a cross-country road trip, or a business transfer and need a reliable vehicle? Muganzi Safaris provides car rental services across Uganda, offering a range of well-maintained, fully insured vehicles suitable for every type of journey — from smooth tarmac roads in Kampala and Entebbe to rugged, unpaved tracks inside Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Kidepo Valley National Park. We offer both chauffeur-driven car hire with an experienced English-speaking driver-guide and self-drive car rental Uganda for independent travelers with a valid international driving permit. All our vehicles are serviced regularly, equipped with safety kits, and available for daily, weekly, or long-term hire.
Well maintained, fully insured vehicles for every journey

For groups of 5 to 8 travelers, the Toyota Land Cruiser Safari Van provides ample space for both passengers and luggage while maintaining excellent road clearance for national park routes. The pop-up roof allows the entire group to stand and photograph wildlife simultaneously during game drives. This is the most commonly requested vehicle for group gorilla trekking safaris in Bwindi and chimpanzee tracking in Kibale.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is the gold standard for Uganda safari travel and the most popular vehicle in our fleet. Robust, reliable, and capable of handling the steep, muddy tracks leading to Bwindi's gorilla trekking sectors, the high-clearance roads of Kidepo Valley, and the seasonal tracks through Queen Elizabeth National Park, the Land Cruiser delivers a comfortable and safe journey on any Uganda road condition. Our safari Land Cruisers feature pop-up roofs for game viewing, spacious luggage capacity for trekking gear and camera equipment, extra fuel jerry cans for remote national park routes, and are fully air-conditioned. Available with or without a professional driver-guide.

For large groups, conference transfers, incentive travel programs, and corporate team safaris, our Toyota Hiace minibuses accommodate up to 10 passengers with comfort. Available with professional drivers and ideal for journeys where groups need to travel together between cities, airports, and accommodation.

The Toyota Prado and Fortuner are ideal for small groups of 2 to 4 travelers who want the comfort and clearance of a 4WD without the full safari van footprint. These vehicles are popular for couples, small families, and business travelers needing a reliable vehicle for both city driving in Kampala and national park routes.

For city runs, airport transfers, business meetings in Kampala, and short journeys on tarmac roads, we offer saloon car hire including Toyota Corolla and Toyota Premio models. These vehicles are fully air-conditioned, well-maintained, and available for daily hire with or without a driver.

Everything you need to know about our airport transfer services
Yes. Self-drive car rental in Uganda requires a valid international driving permit (IDP) in addition to your home country driver’s license. Your IDP must be obtained in your home country before travel and is issued by your national automobile association. Driver-guided hire does not require an IDP — your driver holds a valid Ugandan commercial license.
Â
The minimum age for car rental with Muganzi Safaris is 23 years old. Drivers between 23 and 25 years must have held a full driving license for a minimum of two years. All renters must present a valid passport, a valid international driving permit, and a credit or debit card for the refundable security deposit.
Cross-border vehicle hire is available with advance notice and additional insurance endorsements. Popular routes include Uganda to Rwanda for combined gorilla trekking safaris. Please inform us at the time of booking if you plan a cross-border journey — cross-border transfers without prior authorisation violate our rental agreement and insurance terms.
Absolutely yes. The roads leading to all four gorilla trekking sectors in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest — Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo — involve steep, unpaved terrain that becomes extremely challenging in wet conditions. A standard saloon car or low-clearance SUV is likely to get stuck. We will only issue booking confirmation for Bwindi routes with a 4WD vehicle
